the song of creation
The Feast of the Christian Liturgy, which pagan rites pre-existed, is a true and proper syncretism of culture. This “contamination” has over the centuries, particularly during the medieval period, made Christmas one of the most heartfelt events among believers and non-believers, in which, beside Jesus, the figure and the cult of the Virgin Mother stand out, chants and liturgical dramas represent the musical celebration, with a variety ranging from folk finally arriving in the present day.
In the concert we seek to recall this aspect of Christmas; from the strength and immediacy of the medieval Italian Laudation, to the architecture of the first polyphony of the 14th century without neglecting musical ties to the European popular tradition.
